We have had some of the BEST couples this fall wedding season and Brittany and Alex can definitely be added to that list! When we shot their engagement session last month in Charlottesville during some unseasonably humid weather that would make most couples want to be as far apart as possible but these two were all about some snuggles even though it was ridiculously warm out! They have spent much of their relationship away from each other because of their schooling/jobs and they swear it helps them be closer and we’re pretty sure they’re right.
Brittany and Alex held their wedding at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia at the newly remodeled Pettus House! The home is absolutely stunning, inside and out and was completed just a few days before the wedding. We had actually briefly photographed at the house a few years ago and didn’t even realize we were in the same place it looked so different! The interior is flawlessly designed and decorated and absolutely perfect for small, intimate weddings with the backyard overlooking the river.
The day of the wedding started out a bit rainy, however as if it was perfectly planned, it stopped raining just prior to the ceremony and gave us some beautiful lighting as the guests overlooked the water. Our favorite part of the ceremony happened at the very beginning with Alex meeting his bride half way to escort her down the aisle. It was such a sweet moment. The smiles and tears of joy from the two of them throughout the ceremony were enough to bring all of the guests to tears!
Following the ceremony, the guests enjoyed cocktail hour inside the house, followed by a reception at another event space just down the road at the resort. Everyone enjoyed toasts, dancing, dinner and cake and most importantly, spending time with Brittany and Alex!
Congratulations Brittany and Alex!! XO
