Lauren and Ted’s wedding was one that I found myself with a smile on my face throughout the entire editing process. Every single part of their day was filled with love, happiness and laughter. Lots of laughter.
Lauren and Ted shared a first look, which we totally recommend! They had a few moments with just the two of them and then once we got some photos done, Ted was able to help Lauren pin a piece of his mom’s wedding dress into her dress and then spend a few quiet moments together before the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony was held under a tree that Lauren and Ted fell in love with when they visited Stoneleigh. The tree was incorporated into much of their wedding stationery that Lauren and Ted designed and added personal touches to. Ted’s sister led the ceremony with some of the most heartfelt and touching stories about the couple and Lauren and Ted followed that up with vows they had each written.
One of our favorite wedding traditions is burying bourbon at the ceremony location a month before the wedding to keep the rain away on the wedding day. This worked insanely well for Lauren and Ted, as the remnants of Hurricane Michael ripped through Virginia just two days before the wedding causing flash floods and power outages in many areas near Stoneleigh. In it’s wake, Michael left beautiful weather and little damage to the wedding site. After tilling up at least a half an acre of soil in search of the previously buried liquor, the groomsmen finally hit bourbon! The bridal party passed it around in celebration.
Following a delicious dinner and some heartfelt toasts, the guests were invited to the front of the estate where the band was set up and ready. Lots of dancing and surprises followed. Birthday cake for recent guests birthdays, T-Rex suits and a flash mob were just the highlights!
We loved the last minute decision to not break up the party for a sparkler exit and rather just handed out sparklers to all the guests and had them create a large circle around Lauren and Ted and just keep dancing! It was so much fun and the different take on sparklers was such a welcome change for us!
Congratulations Lauren and Ted!!! XOXO
